Thread Count
First Nations fibre artisans of the Top End have been threading together the stories of their ancestors for generations upon generations, with age-old techniques passing from hand to hand. An ancient and traditional craft that sees form seamlessly melded with functionality, Thread Count is a multi-media installation that shares the powerful stories of this intricate female led practice and the Master Weavers behind it.
Curated by Nina Fitzgerald, and supported by Agency Projects, the Thread Count installation brings together some of the finest woven bags and baskets from Arnhemland and the Daly River Region of the Northern Territory, considering the weaves in the context of contemporary fashion, and changing the way the uniquely Australian practice is perceived.
Here, one of the oldest continuing traditions of art in the world takes the stage amongst the stories being woven through fashion.
Thread Count will be held at Agency Projects and Padre Coffee in Collingwood Yards. Agency Projects celebrates and promotes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art, culture and people on a national and international scale. A national Indigenous-led organisation, Agency’s head office is at Collingwood Yards.

Accessibility
The Johnston Street Lift, located immediately inside 35B Johnston Street (LG) provides access to levels UG, 1 and 2. 35A Johnston Street provides a footpath and ramp to the Automatic door entrance to level UG. From 35C Johnston Street, there is a footpath and ramp leading to the Johnston Street lift and external staircase.
The only at level access paths to Johnston Street UG are via Entrance 35A Johnston Street or 30A Perry Street. The at level access paths to Johnston Street Building LG are via 35B and 35C Johnston Street. The access path to Johnston Street Building L1 and L2 requires use of the Johnston Street Lift.
Accessible toilets are located within the Johnston Street Building on Level UG and Level 1, toward the western end of the building near entrance 35A Johnston Street. Accessible toilets are also located at the eastern end of the Johnston Street Building on Level LG, near the Music Market co-working space. These toilets are open throughout office and event hours. All accessible toilets are equipped with manual locks, exit buttons and grab rails.
