Multi-disciplinary artist Kate Beynon joins the Collingwood Yards community as the 2021 Bank of Melbourne Collingwood Resident
Bank of Melbourne and Collingwood Yards have today announced the recipient of the second Bank of Melbourne Collingwood Residency, a program created in partnership between the two organisations. A $30,000 package of support for a start-up creative enterprise consisting of a large studio space in the refurbished Johnston Street building, a $10,000 Bank of Melbourne bank account and professional development opportunities has been awarded to artist and educator, Kate Beynon.
Sophie Travers, Director of Collingwood Yards said “Kate is an artist with so much to offer the Collingwood Yards community. We are delighted to welcome her and support her beautiful work and connections to our creative tenants and Collingwood neighbours.”
Kate Beynon was the unanimous choice of the Judging Panel, consisting of six representatives from the Bank of Melbourne, Collingwood Yards and the creative industries. The Judging Panel also included inaugural Bank of Melbourne Collingwood Resident, designer Danielle Brustman. This year’s Residency call-out attracted over 150 applications across a wide variety of disciplines and depth of experience, testament to the strength of Melbourne’s creative scene. Kate’s enthusiasm for collaboration and for experimentation and diversification of her practice drew the attention of the panel, underscored by her grounded and innovative plans to hatch a creative business throughout the course of the residency
