Collingwood Yards was launched to the public in April 2021 and Director, Sophie Travers, succeeded founding CEO Marcus Westbury OAM in May. The precinct is up and running with all but one space fully tenanted, and so the rhythm now shifts to community building, outreach and activation. This is the perfect time to welcome new input into our governance profile and practices.
Daniel Besen says, “My role at Collingwood Yards has been fulfilled. I am very proud of what we have achieved and the extraordinary community that is emerging. It is the right time for a new Chair to lead the organisation into the next stage of its journey.”
Director Sophie Travers says, “It is a great honour to join Collingwood Yards as it starts to deliver upon its promises to artists and the community. The work of Daniel Besen and the founding Board members to create this place of extraordinary inspiration is acknowledged in our daily interactions. I am most grateful to lead this thriving precinct into its next iteration.”
Acting Chair, Stephen Carpenter is leading a comprehensive search for the Chair of the Board. Stephen says, “I am delighted to be able to lead our talented Board and executive team through this interim period whilst we search for a new Chair of Contemporary Arts Precincts who shares our values of Openness, Resilience, Resourcefulness and Focus. We are collectively very excited by the potential of Collingwood Yards and its vibrant tenant community.”
